The foundation of our program is the belief that every child is a masterpiece uniquely crafted by our Creator to receive and reflect His love. The first thing we learn about God in the Bible is that He is creative: “In the beginning God created..” He is an artist and we are God’s art. When Ephesians 2:10 calls us God’s “masterpiece” the Greek word here is “poiema” - the same word used for “poem”. We are what happens when God expresses Himself. As the image-bearing poems of God, we are invited to join Him as His co-creators to uniquely represent God to the world when we create. Every class’s curriculum intentionally points students back to the Source of their creativity.
Just as The Mona Lisa and Starry Night look nothing alike but are both priceless works of art, our differences are intentional and add to our value. This deep conviction that each student is a priceless work of art designed by the Divine Artist guides each decision for how the program operates logistically and makes us distinct. We value the healthy development of the whole child and not just their technical skill. Unfortunately, perfectionism and an unhealthy body image can be unintentionally perpetuated by modern performing arts instruction. The heart of our program is to redeem the performing arts as a positive influence on our students’ emotional wellbeing. Many conscious choices have been made toward this goal, setting us apart from other programs. Social-emotional concepts will be infused throughout the curriculum.
